Wyoming Sports Betting Bill Moves to Senate

A Wyoming legislative proposal concerning sports wagering has been endorsed by a committee and will now be presented to the full Senate for deliberation.

This proposal, introduced by Representative Tom Walters in the second month of the year, seeks to make online sports betting lawful within the state.

The proposal was passed by the House of Representatives last week on a second vote, with 32 members voting in favor and 28 voting against, after it was previously rejected by the same margin.

The proposal was subsequently transmitted to the Senate and assigned to the Senate Appropriations Committee, which approved it by a vote of four to one.

The sole modification suggested by the committee was to postpone the effective date of the proposal from the first of July of the current year to the first of September.

The committee’s approval signifies that the proposal will now be submitted to the full Senate for consideration and, if approved, will be forwarded to Governor Mark Gordon for his signature.
