Choctaw Nation Breaks Ground on New Traveler’s Oasis

The Choctaw Nation is commencing construction on a new traveler’s oasis!

A grand celebration took place this week to mark the beginning of the project. Dignitaries from the Choctaw Nation, Louisville officials, and even envoys from the Mississippi Governor’s office were in attendance. Enthusiasm for the project is widespread.

This new complex will be massive! It will feature over 100 gaming machines, a sports viewing area, and a plethora of dining and retail establishments. Additionally, they are constructing a fueling station for automobiles and large trucks. This will be an ideal location for travelers to pause and refresh, whether they are just passing through or residents of the area.

The Principal Chief of the Choctaw Nation, Cyrus Ben, delivered remarks at the ceremony. He stated that this endeavor has been in development for an extended period and signifies a promising new era for the Choctaw people. He is particularly pleased about the 100 employment opportunities this will generate for the local populace.

The establishment will be open continuously and is situated just off the interstate on Choctaw territory. However, they have not yet settled on a name. Chief Ben is organizing a competition for the entire tribe to propose the ideal moniker.

The Louisville rest stop, as it’s currently known, will receive its official title before launching in the summer of 2024.

“This collaboration with the Mississippi Choctaw Indians is an initiative we’re incredibly pleased with,” he continued. “Through joint efforts, we can further empower our local populations.”
