Crown Resorts Board Member Resigns Amidst Ongoing Transformation

A longstanding Crown Resorts board member, Tony Cosanos, has resigned from her role. This move comes as Crown Resorts manages a time of substantial transformation, seeking to overhaul its leadership and governance framework after a string of controversies.

Joining the board in 2018, Cosanos was instrumental in steering the company through the aftermath of the investigation into its operations. She was among just two directors who stayed on throughout the turbulent period, which witnessed the exit of former CEO Ken Barton and the resignation of former chair Helen Coonan.

Cosanos’ statement conveyed her satisfaction with her input in Crown’s evolution, highlighting her belief in the company’s fresh leadership under incoming chair Ziggy Switkowski and CEO Steve McCann. She attributed her exit to a wish to concentrate on different obligations.

With her departure, the Crown Resorts board consists of four members as they anticipate regulatory consent for Switkowski’s appointment.

The Sydney gaming establishment owned by Star Entertainment remains in troubled waters, its operational permit still revoked as executives make a swift departure. This situation stems from a February inquiry by the New South Wales criminal justice body, which determined the casino was complicit in enabling financial crimes.
